Hi Guys.
Just wondering if anyone else is like me and has music that just has to be played in a car.
Whenever I hear Dire Straits I just think of Skoda's. Its the must-have music to be played in a Skoda. I don't know why...but for me it just is.
Especially if its a tape - just for added quality!
Am I alone in this bizarre way of life?

I have a massive music collection, but if I'm going somewhere, (the stereo is only in the car if I'm doing some milage that day), I always reach for ELO, Supertramp, and Johnny Cash. how weird am I? at least they're on CD tho ;D

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I can't drive without music, in fact I'd go as far as to say I couldn't exist without it...played in bands from age 14 up until I was 38 so have a massive and eclectic taste (as I work/write this I've got the WMA on shuffle and it's coming up with everything from Motorhead to Elgar). Favourite driving stuff: 1. 'Juggernaut Rides: 1989-1998'- Swervedriver (favourite band ever ever ever ever) 2. 'Anthology'- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers 3. 'Morning View'- Incubus 4. 'Walking The Line'- Johnny Cash 5. 'Wrecker!'- The Mono Men Plus I've got a bunch of those Epitaph/Fat Wreck Chords punk compilations that I play when the sun's out and I'm going someplace nice.....and for a night drive you still can't beat Pink Floyd or some early '90s techno.

No stereo in the Cortina- yet, but otherwise hip hop mostly (over 700 albums on cd and vinyl) and not the bling commercial rubbish (like the homo-erotic 50Cent).. or good punk and rock.. Snot, Clutch, Transplants, Rancid. Though theres plenty of other styles i like.

BBC World Service on XM radio - its the closest thing I can get to R4 when commuting. Road- trips ? Usually Johhny Cash, RadioHead, U2 etc Blasting down Ortgeta ? radio off or maybe Audioslave All music is on either satellite radio or iPod - not even sure if the CD players even work in my cars....

I do have a stereo in the 2CV but I rarely listen to it - prefer to be able to hear if anything is sounding a bit iffy...

cant have the stereo on too loud when I'm in the low benz, due to liking the fact my kidneys work properly and i have ear drums. however pendulums tarantula is a particular favourite due to its window popping bass. ;D most stuff gets played, from tori amos through to napalm death. ecclectic me yeah.

another vote for Radio4. Excelelnt for soothing the nerves in the traffic,
for long motorway runs I like to listen to audio books. I have just finished BBC Radio 4's excellent "This Sceptred Isle".
Certain music reminds me of different cars for various reasons.
Sheep On Drugs - Uberman : reminds me of my old Ventora. The Kinks - Lola : reminds me of my first Mk3 Cortina Prodigy - Firestarter : reminds me of my Rover 416GSi Peaches - F*ck the Pain Away : reminds me of my Rover P5B.

I love music while driving but despite that i've still not got a stereo in the Escort I really must make that a priority job, it enhances driving no end.

'Don't stop me now' at maximum volume, singing along whilst drumming on the wheel. Because my son has decided such behaviour is 'embarrassing'..... ;D
