so iv moved on from imps, realised they are slightly out of my league for the moment,
and onto the fiestas, just developing a love for em and iv seen a couple on here, like slaters.
any info on these things, what to look out for, and prices i should expect for a decent one

Noooo don't give up on imps! Hell, I've had plenty of chances to give up on mine (and boy am I crazy for not doing so!) but just think of the summer croooozing! Solution- Imp and a fezza

Fiestas are great. Very simple, good fun and they take a bit of abuse (well, my first car, a mkII Fiesta did!).
As mentioned though, keep an Imp on the "must have" list. I've got one on my list! Shame there is so much other stuff on it also...

Open your options a little wider...there's plenty of other small cars out there! THe Fiesta idea is a good one, but I wouldn't rule out a Cinquecento, Micra, Polo, Chevette, Nova (etc) either.

Nova!! Everything goes in circles.... yes even FWD hatches Years ago when I passed my test Novas were in style, Fiestas were a bit old hat. Polos were old man cars and you'd never be seen dead in a micra. Now, every college kid wants a Polo, and the sensible girls get Micras. Novas are the bad boys that nobody wants and Fiestas are just too flimsy so your dad will hate them. Hence making them both a very good choice

Aye, like Rmad said keep your options broad, but a Fiesta is a reccomended choice. Mk1's are instant cool, mk2's are well on their way to becoming rare, but mk3's are horrible IMO- they have the potential to not look that bad I suppose but they are uninspiring to drive and the interiors are awful!

SWMBO had a couple of Mk3's, the first one being a K-plate 1100 which was the most diabolically gutless car I have ever driven....mind you bolting a towbar on the back and using it to pull a folding caravan was probably not one of my better ideas, the damn thing wouldn't pull 5th gear on the flat with it on the back...it did 22mpg when towing hahahahaha She had a 1300 'Classic Quartz' as well, that was a much better car. A clean slammed Mk3 would look nice in Ermine white with some 60's Lotus steelies/hubcaps IMHO.

i think the mk3 has some potential, like briandamged says, white dropped on steels would rock. or a silver 3 door ina similar vein

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place
