looking at footage i don't think so but hey I'm open to knowledge
quote
By the way a lot of people think that the Ring is flat out, but there are speed limits in places. There are no Gatsos but there is the German police Helicoptor with the speed gun overhead. Even though the Ring is closed to the Public on the day you had planned, go anyway. There is the Museum at the GP circuit (which will take at least 3 hrs to see) and you can sit out watching the testing on the Ring or the GP track from one of the many bars. There is also loads to see and do in the area Including a fantastic Bike shop with its own Cafe.

Never been, but speed limits makes sense, enforced or not, surely its a track day type affair, so there will be someone with a flag giving you evils if you are hooning it round like a crazed manic..... which of course is what I plan to do when I go!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

a couple of quotes about speed limits: "3 - Velocity 1) Regulations regarding speed, as defined under Art. 3, Sect. 1 of the German Highway Code, must be adhered to. [Which Laurens tells us essentially says that you must be in full control of your vehicle whatever speed you're travelling at, a most sensible approach to traffic law - Ben] 2) Racing is prohibited. This includes attempting to set speed records with individual vehicles. 3) The directions of safety cars and marshalls are to be followed. In particular, the signal for "no overtaking". 4) The speed limits in the start/finish-area have to obeyed by all visitors to the Nürburgring. 5) The places marked as "construction site" have to be driven slowly. The indicated speedlimits have to be followed. [Presumably a reference to coned-off areas where armco repair, etc, is being undertaken. Also, when the T13 diversion is in place, there is usually a speed limit for that section. - Ben]" from www.nurburgring.org.uk/ringrules.html
the official nurburgring site says nothing so iv sent them an email asking about it.

I've been a few times and there is often a helicopter circling around, not sure why?
As for speed limits, there are sometimes little sections where the track is restricted in width for example where there will be a big sign with a speed limit posted just for that part.
As far as I know there are no limits elsewhere, I've certainly never held back in terms of speed but due to the amount of scary corners and traffic on the track at certain times of day there are few stretches where you can get over 100mph or so anyway in a 'normal' car in my experience.
Excellent fun though and looking forward to visiting again this summer! ;D
