Look, working dials! The glare is standard Princess fitment. Also... A very lovely chap came out with a dalek and sorted the suspension out and relieved me of some hydragas pipes. He also managed to get the carb to run a bit leaner and the engine to idle a little better and diagnosed the timing being just a gnats off hence the occasional lazy firing. A quick tweak and we'll have the car running absolutely superbly. Fitted a driver's door mirror but not a passenger one as I haven't all the bits to do it. Doesn't actually need a passenger mirror for the MoT as the car predates the requirement. Looks so much better now and rides much nicer too. Hopefully it won't sink. Few more items off the list which is now as follows: Brake bleed - able to do this now I can get a jack under the car. Earth chasing to resolve lights issue Throttle cable to replace, existing one now sticking Exhaust blow to resolve Swap good tyres on Power steering pipe leak to resolve Rebound straps to reattach/check/replace Renew thermostat and overflow bottle caps

Oh, it's been able to move under its own power for a while, the difference now is that it doesn't try and smack the exhaust and sump off all the way up the drive.

Great work. Love the blurry wedge in motion shot. Looks like the kind of foto that be used in 70s advertising.
Pity the orange wedge was too rusty but give it another 10 years and you will probably be able to 3D print a new Princess shell.

So far that orange car has been super useful. The red car made use of the carburettor and distributor while the beige car has made use of the full interior, complete head, rear spheres, trailing arms and hubs. Even my brother's Saxo has made use of the one knackered door as it provided donor material to sort out the seat mounts. There's still more the orange car is offering too, definitely paid for itself by donating a lot of parts to save two cars that had more mechanical maladies but much less structural issues. I may even be using some parts of the orange car to serve as fibreglass moulds if we can convert the front sheet metal of the beige car into bolt-on panels to help eliminate some rust traps.

On Sunday, a very brave new owner is going to collect this red wedge and take it home with him. He lives a handful of miles away from where I collected the car in the first place! Pictures and progress as and when I can, this temporary internet I'm on at the moment is a chore.

On Sunday the new owner (Phil) arrived to sort out the last few jobs before taking this car away. I was there to collect my beige Princess but I couldn't stay to help very much. While the brakes were done relatively quickly for ones that hadn't been touched since at least 1997 (I think I'd doused all the bleed nipples in Plusgas at some point, this may have helped) the electrical issue kept the Phil and my brother up until 4-5am! The issue wasn't the dashboard as I'd expected, it was a dodgy fuse and an issue with the rear cigarette lighter.
So with brakes and electrics sorted today then went to sort out the cooling system. A new thermostat cap had been ordered but hadn't arrived in time, so I donated what I thought was a reasonable cap from my beige car only to find that it too was next to useless. They temporarily sealed the cap on, filled up the system and started the car to check the cooling system was working only to have the radiator then explode. The system had been flushed a couple of times but the radiator swapped for a spare after finding the original leaked so I suspect the spare radiator I fitted was goosed.
I'm awaiting further updates, at present my news is trickling in from Twitter and the occasional phone call and I've not had any more news since the radiator issue. I really hope they can work around it, I had hoped nothing quite that serious would pop up and mess up proceedings.
When they're all sorted the car will be returned to its new home only about 20 miles away from where I had the car collected in the first place. Small world.
More updates when I have them.
