Offered is my 2000 Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 T Spark, with MOT & Tax until the end of Jan 2014. 121k on the clock.
I bought this off a mate who was leaving the country back in May - it's actually been owned by his dad from new, so only one family plus me on the V5. Sadly I am now leaving the country too so it has to go!
Features include:
* Black leather interior
* Electric windows (three of which still work)
* Electric sunroof (that tilts. It doesn't slide any more, but oh Lord above it tries)
* C/L, E/M, PAS.
* Towbar, but only ever used to pull a trailer - no caravans or anything.
* Blaupunkt CD player included
Bodywork - average for year, with scuffs on bumpers and a few scratches & dings/dodgy bits of trim here and there. There's a dent in the NSF wing, which are apparently easy to replace should it bother you. Annoyingly, the bootlid has also just started lifting slightly on one side as you can see in the photo. Could be just a simple adjustment, I haven't got round to looking yet!
Mechanicals - it flew through the last MOT needing just a bulb and a tyre. It's generally pretty solid and lovely to drive around in, especially the quick rack steering and presence of the 'Alfa growl'... however as you'd expect from a 13 year old Alfa, a few niggles have arisen...
* The immobiliser is currently playing up, so to start it you need to enter the override code by pressing the accelerator in a sequence with the ignition on. It takes about a minute or so, but the engine never fails to fire from cold or hot once the code is entered. I'll throw in a FREE instructional session for the lucky buyer. I've fitted a new antenna and fiddled about with the wiring as recommended on the Alfa forums but no joy yet - it's apparently a connection problem 99% of the time though so might well be solved with some further fettling.
* It'll need a new thermostat
* The odd little dip in revs when ticking over, but nothing that should bother anyone looking at a £375 car. Doesn't stall or anything.
* It's also just started to sound a bit diesel-y on tickover, which is apparently to do with the cam belt variator (this ISN'T related to them snapping btw!). I've read that this can often be sorted by an oil change, as...
* ...it's due a service.
Not much in the way of S/H unfortunately as it was taken care of by a family mechanic, although the original handbooks and purchase invoice are still present.
So there it is - not immaculate by any means, but it's MOT'd, taxed and gets you where you need to go with only limited faffing.
I'm looking for a quick sale so will consider reasonable offers, but please no 'what's your best price' nonsense. You're better than that.
