My classic range rover 3.9 has just started showing signs of leaking headgaskets , using water, over pressurised cooling system.
On another forum i am a member of they reckon rover v8's suffer from cracked blocks behind the liners ?
Wondered if anyone has any experience of this as i thought it only applied to later range rovers ?

My range rover uses water, check the plugs as one of mine goes a little rusty if left for a couple of days. Its more likely to be the head gasket as it was the larger engines that sufered more from leaking past the liners.Try range rover remedies.com as the have a good list of general faults on Rangies

Pound to a pinch of sh1t it's a knackered gasket. Oh, and welcome to the forum!!

Yep, almost certainly a knackered head gasket... Cheap enough from somewhere like www.paddockspares.com and only takes a couple of hours to do...! For a wealth of RV8 info, go to www.v-8.org.uk
