Hi all I'm looking for a good car cover to stick over my mgb roadster during the winter. Had it stored in a garage all last year but it was a bit damp and I think it was worse off. Ebay is full of them but knowing which to buy is a knightmare. Had one a few years ago that was cotton lined but don't see them any more at sensible prices.
cheers steve

For under £50, you may as well wrap it in barbed wire and Brillo pads.
Seriously, you would be better off not bothering, and just keeping the car clean. Either that or stump up the dollar for a good quality breathable, lined cover that fits well.

Realy? Would have thought even a cheap cover would help to keep it dry. Its mainly just to keep the interior dry as these old mgb roadsters do tend to leak a bit.

A cheapo cover will keep it "dry" as in protect it from the rain. However, it will also encourage condensation, which is will trap and hold against the bodywork, which will not dry out quickly, and slight movements of a cheap cover in the wind will eventually scuff the paint.
Needs to be breathable as an absolute minimum and preferably with a soft lining.

Thats the sort of thing I'm after. Not to worried about the paint i,l be repainted next year more interested in keeping the interior dry and the chrome looking decent. Last year in the garage over the winter wrecked the bumpers but there again they are cheapo replicars (lesson learned there) It always baffles me through how a breathable cover can be waterproof.

Buy a cheap Argos gazebo, and remove the lower half of the legs. Covers most of the car and let's air circulate. Worked a treat for my mx5.
