At RTTS 2004 there was (amongst other very nice motors) a gorgeous metallic brown Datsun lowrider (I don't know what model - I have a pic on my work computer I'll post). I think it was a Unity car... Anyway, the shift lever for the auto box was the coolest thing I've ever seen - a pistol with the trigger as the release button! I've searched the interweb high and low to try to find out where I can get one but I've had no joy  Does anyone know where I can get one? Or d'ya reckon it was a custom job? |

There was a German Passat Estate that had pistols for indicator and wiper stalks... Quite an amazing interior and exterior but it got wrecked when it fell off a trailer... I read a feature in an old Performance VW (or The Golf) which said they were custom made... I'll see if I can find pics.   You can't see the stalks in that pic really though... |

That's a really nicely done car! Not too keen on modern stuff but that really works IMHO. The interior is mint! My brother reckons the shift levers are available for Borg Warner auto boxes, complete with the whole shifter mechanism, but I can't find anything on the web. The lowrider itself was amazing - I'll try and post some pics of it, and perhaps someone could identify the model too (I think it was a Datsun Cedric or 260C but can't be sure...  ) |

260 or 280c, can't remember which. That car was totally stock when he bought it, and the only mods when he first showed it (RTTS 2003) were the wires and the juice. All the paint and everything is all original. Some old duffer had had it from new. S'pect Ratdat will know more about it.
As for the pistol - are you sure you didn't get it confused with Craigs black 735i that was also there? He has a toy revolver as a gear stick and has been stopped on several occasions for said item in his car. Does look cool though!

Nope, definately a brown one. Freshly built last year. Don't know who it belongs to though - Unity car?

Yeah I'm pretty sure there was a Unity plaque in the back. Really mint motor. Unfortunately he was late so it wasn't parked with the other lowriders (too much sauce the night before probably!) The pistol shifter was defo in that Datsun... I guess it must have been a custom job then... I might have a go at making one but getting hold of a Beretta replica might be a bit tricky in this day and age! I'll look in the toy shops too...  |
