blocked up washer jets/nozzles? The wiper washer jets on my car are totally blocked. The car had been stood for 10+ years when I bought it and I suspect the dirt/grime etc in the nozzles has found a permament home. I have tried cleaning them with central heating "flushing " liquid, leaving them in boiling water etc etc, but still no luck. Can I use something stronger like acid to unblock the nozzles?

you tried a pin? I find an angle grinder works quite effectively for this sort of thing If you can get them off the car, I'm not too far away and have a little ultrasonic cleaner which might do it...

poke a piece of wire down 'em. The diamater of the nozzle is quite small ; tried the pin route but could not find one that was thin enough to penetrate (same with the wire). Might take you up on your offer "Seth"........ ;D

universal washer jet replacements - about a quid a pair for black plastic and 3 or 4 quid for the chrome ones last time I looked. How much effort do you waste on a chump-change part?

Umm, tell me more please about the universal jet replacements , the ones on my datsun do not sit on the bodywork /scuttle panel/bonnet . They are the recessed in the scuttle panel ...long copper hose with an end which has been crimped together to create jets....Dunno if I am making myself clear

The chrome ones are int he classic mags. The ones you have sound like what you get in a lot of yanks and Mk3 Cortinas and the like. Just get a new bit of pipe at the end if you can't blow it through. Crimp it down with some pliars.
