We got Mazda 626 (Telstar) and 323 (Laser).
The nearest Ford equivalents were probably Sierra and Escort.

Hah, Cam boe, they didn't get them, if you hang out here a little more you'd find just how many and varied car appreciation is here. People often like seeing models and variants that they didn't get. Go buy a 106, then give it to me. Swaps for the 31, thanks.

Telstars had a Mazda equivelant here,the Mazda 535 4x4 turbo.
Now laugh .
One used to get around brissy with a sticker in the back window saying...www.whippedby-your- grandmascar.com
Then there was the Laser XR2 4x4 turbo.0-60 in 6 sec.More of a mazda but still sold by Ford.mazda parts fit,so when that expensive clutch died you bought imported used parts.
The Valiant is rare sight here now ,most good ones fetch silly money .but then there was always the 360 Mopar small block versions to scare the wibblepoo out of nonbelievers.
I guess some of you Kiwis havewn't been off shore yet ,so you wouldn't know that 25 year old lasers etc don't exist much anywhere else these days.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

yeah i guess that's true. love it here due to such a wide band, and great appreciation for stuff that most people don't see as awesome...
so glad we get so much stuff that other countries didn't.
