Alright chaps, Thought introduce Polo No. 2. I purchased the car on Sunday after winning the auction the Monday previous. It's a little black GT, always wanted one Nan offered to lend me the money so I got this one It does mean I'll be broke paying my nan back but it's bloody worth it! Unfortunately I don't have any of my own pictures as of yet, but here's some pictures from the advert. ^^ Genuine 71k!^^ The previous owner gave the car a good going over before I bought it, polish, treated bumpers plastics ect ect so it looks a lot tidier now. I haven't added much to it apart from a Pipercross panel filter, Votex cassette holder, late spec rear lights, Audi window winders and a few other little bits. Most of the parts were taken from my other Polo. Plans? Well I'm not sure really, I love the car the way it is. I'll more than likely add OEM parts if/when I can afford to. I have a Votex grille (has two built in round spot lamps) but I not keen on the idea of butchering the radiator cowling. For now I'm gonna just enjoy it as is, would be a shame to tear apart a low mile original car considering there's not many like this left. It certainly puts a smile on my face and the revy little 3F lump has plenty of poke to keep me more than satisfied. Up to date pics to follow... Thanks for looking guys.

I miss my old gt so much and this doesn't help :/ Looks like you've scored a great one though. They're only going up in value at the moment though so look forward to seeing where you go with this one.

Thanks Sparks, it's a real gem this car, I feel very lucky to be owner in all honesty. Unfortunately some curse word thought they'd attempt to nick it Wednesday night so now I need to replace the locks and bend my passenger door back into place!
This hasn't put me off though, I'm determined to make this car better than before. Only subtle changes inside and out but the engine is gonna have some decent goodies in the future. Watch this space...

Sorry to hear of its misfortune, it does look special, though I think I'd be terrified of anything developing/hidden under those arch trims.

^^^ Haha thanks mate, I'm trying to prevent myself from doing naughty things to it! Got images of it at home, there a bit curse word/rushed, I don't get anytime to myself at the moment so took them when I could. Please excuse the pink floor mats, there the original owners but I haven't bothered replacing them yet as they do the job haha. I'm gonna start gathering parts soon when funds allow, seriously love driving this car. I've got a performance chip on it's way to me which will raise the rev limiter to 7.3K and give car a claimed 5-8 extra BHP and eliminate any flat spots, should make it a lot more interesting to drive. Future plans: 40/30 AP Suspension kit, S/S Exhaust system with mid box removed, Upgraded 8.00mm HT leads (some lovely red ones) Upgraded cam (268) 14" alloys (more than likely BBS Ra's or RZ's) Upgrade Suspension bushes (Poly thingy's or whatever there called) Stage 2 sub frame, Upgraded ARB blocks, Sort out any body work niggles. Basically the general idea is make it handle well, go like stink but maintain originality.

I'm having thoughts about removing it now haha.

Polo looks great, congrats on the test , personally i'd ditch the AA badge, suits a Rover P6 (or similar 70's ride) but looks lost on a 90's Polo. don't know where you are but i have a set of 14" BBS RA's laying around here.

Thanks Mark!
I have removed the AA badge now, I did like it but soon changed my mind, it wouldn't fit in with style I aim to go for with this car.
Nothings been done to the car due having little cash at the minute, but it's been treated to a full polish and the all plastics treated and are now a really nice deep black. Might take a trip to the New Forest tomorrow and get some decent snaps.
Mark: RA's would definitely interest me, I'm down in Bournemouth. I'm heading to London next Saturday. Don't mind travelling a sensible distance though.

nice looking gt, nice to see one that hasn't been overly modified! You mention earlier in your thread you have a votex grill. Do you still have it and would you be interested in selling it?

Thanks Jon! It'll be remaining pretty much standard apart from spec'd up factory options, only the engine will be getting noticeable changes in the future. I do still have the grill, I'm unsure weather I want to part with it though, I'll test fit it soon and make my decision. Seems daft and unfair to keep it if someone else has a use for it. You'll be the first to know it I decide to part with it. (My user name is the same on CP and is TomMK3 on Polo3)
I've actually just seen you're wanted ad on CP, did you buy Martins Breadvan GT? Going by his build thread you actually owned the car a while ago? Lovely little car and with some tlc would look top notch.

Yeah I did buy my old polo back, minus all the good bits I fitted to it! Martin is a mate of mine, so I got the car back for less than I paid for it first time round. Needs a lot of cosmetic tlc though! heres my original build thread from nearly 4 years ago retrorides.proboards.com/thread/59414/1991-polo-gt-squarebackIf you do decide you want rid of the votex make sure you tell me first! Keep up the good work!

Wow! You did a brilliant job with that car, those rear arch trims must be stupidly rare as I've never seen a set before! Do you intend to start a build thread? I would love to see the progress.
Don't worry, you'll be first to know about the grill.

tbh I think I will just pick up my old build thread from where I left off! My aim is to get it back to somewhere close to how it was when I previously owned it. I don't think I will get the rear arches again, as they are no longer available from the place I bought them from (from what I can tell, they weren't genuine vw items. Not really sure how they came into existance.) First jobs will be to fit a new clutch and re-make an uprated headlight loom (If your car doesn't have one, I woulf highly recommend making one, it'll give your healights around 20% more light output)

That's a good plan, I'd definitely be watching if you decide to do so. That's a shame about the arches, I had a feeling they weren't OE VW items although they should have been, they look awesome.
I'd love to upgrade the lighting, unfortunately me and wiring aren't very good together basically I'm useless when it comes to that side of things. I'll have to sort something in the future though as the lights aren't great.
