I removed the instrument fuse whilst trying to identify the correct fuse to sort a problem with towing electrics on my 54 reg Skoda Fabia 1.4 diesel. Since putting the fuse back the airbag is constantly on. Nothing comes up on my Autel MS509 code reader. Seems this is a common problem with VW group vehicles. Anyone know of a DIY method of resetting the airbag light when no faults and caused simply by fuse removal ?
Cheers.

Yeah, you'll need a VAG-COM dongle and VCDS on a computer. the dongle is about £10 on ebay, software is free.
Once you've got it all installed and working (pretty easy, just select the right COM port)
Just click through to airbag, then erase faults. It's a ten second job - if you know someone with a dongle it won't take them any time at all.

Thanks.
Need to sort it out asap as MOT due so will try the local independent dealer tomorrow to see if they can fit it in for a few quid. Sods law says the towing electrics fault was with the trailer and not the vehicle as well !

IIRC don't the airbag systems do a self test on themselves everytime the car is started up? I know my Passat did (despite clearing that code, it would come back with 'Module Defective' :/).

They do a self test, but they will hang on to a fault like an unplugged airbag or dodgy power feed til you manually clear it - my vag com dongle has got more use clearing airbag faults on stuff that people have turned the ignition on when one of the pretensioners was unplugged than anything else.

Also worth checking if any wires under the seat have been knocked aswell ,as some models with airbags in side of seats have plugs underneath that sometimes get knocked which causes this problem

Booked MOT for tomorrow and checked tester can reset light. It's a PIA not being able to drive at present (licence suspended until I undertake a fitness to drive assessment, after a stroke that has left me weak in both legs and right arm, that has taken 3 months for an appointment) so will have to get wife to take me. Sods law says whilst looking for something else came across the instructions for another scanner I have. A cheap and cheerful item from China that cost something like £9.99 including P&P exactly the same as this - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AirBag-ABS-Diagnostic-tool-VW-Audi-Skoda-Seat-VAG-CAN-Fault-Code-Reader-Scanner-/261146355080?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3ccd892588Plugged it in and followed written instructions rather than my normal ignoring them ! SRS menu comes up and yes / no to delete code. Needless to say it has cleared the light Paul H
