Couldn't think of a better title... Let's see some pics of the rarer variants of popular retro-motors... The sort of thing I mean: Austin Metro 'S' - They were part of the initial launch range, but didn't last long in production. I've never seen one! Ford Capri 1.3 Ford Sierra 2.0 injection S (I'm sure that one has the wrong wheeltrims - I seem to remember they came with white "pepperpot" style ones) Most are base models I guess, designed to attract people into the showroom with their low headline prices, yet not be available "so you'd be better with the £1000 extra LX model, sir"... I'm sure early base model Sierras had smoother wheeltrims, and the plastic grille was unpainted. I don't mean Limited Edition models, but cars that were fully intended to be mainstream models but for some reason failed...

That 2.0iS is indeed on the wrong trims.
Also - the early Sierras had upside down wing mirrors ...
As in they were hinged at the top ... looked quite odd.
Wasnt that Metro S a 1.3 model ?

FAO Spiny: Here's one! Here's one that's even less common: A Marina Utility. Also, that Volvo Camper is cool! I reckon it would look even better converted to 240 glt spec, complete with silver paint and alloys....

You don't see many of these..... This is a Range Rover CSK, of which just 200 were built in 1990. It had a high level of spec, but was a 3-door shell, which had not been available in the UK for some time by that time....

Unlikely any of you UK lads came across one of these, so since we're speaking about Marina's and all... The Aussie assembled LEYLAND Marina 262, a 2.6l six cylinder version of the already curse word-bucket Marina. Also had a 3 speed manual gearbox. My dad had one with triple SUs, lumpy cam, lowered on Rostyles, exhaust, extractors, port job and other goodies....

I used to see a Range Rover CSK everyday, still see it occasionally driven by a very nice blonde ;D on the sublect of Land Rovers, heres one of my favourite vehicles, number 76 of the limited edition 50th Anniversary 4 litre automatic Defenders.. Which I also had the pleasure of thrashing round an off road course for a couple of hours one wet saturday a few years ago. Some of us where roped in to take a Land Rover dealers punters round in nice new not so shiny any more machinery.. including Range Rovers too and the then new Freelander, which in the right hands is quite capable ;D

Sounds interesting, but like yourself, I really shouldn't take on another new project right now, I've got no space and not a great deal of cash either!

I do like the van versions of cars. They make a change from the same old saloons. Car companys seem to have moved away from making van versions of there cars. Theres no Focus or Astra van.

There was an Astra van until lately, but Vauxhall have no plans for a new one as far as I know. A van made out of the new Astra wouldn't be practical or possible anyway, I mean a lot of the new generation of cars have impractical bumpers etc that can't take a knock, and advanced electrical rubbish that nobody on earth can fix, so the days of the dependable easy to fix van are done as far as I can see!

Car manufactures seem to be going down a "practicality" route in terms of vans... rather than being based on sleek hatchbacks, they're turning into boxes on wheels.... This is not necessarily a good thing... The old Astra Van was a fine (for a van) bit of kit - comfortable, reliable with decent handling and the ability to be punted happily down the motorway at high speed all day.....It was a shock then when Astra gave way to Berlingo as the "SurveyWagon" of choice...Noisy, thrashy, very uncomfortable, unreliable and with handling that borders on the downright dangerous - I suppose it's function is purely as a box on wheels (and that makes it too big for me - all the survey kit crashes around the back at the slightest sniff of a corner)....I shan't be sorry to see it go when it goes back to the fleet people next week.... Van makers - sort your lives out!! <We like <We don't like

Really? I've seen plenty of 304 convertibles and coupes, but can't remember ever seeing a four-door variant...
