Detachable steering wheel boss - take the wheel into work / home with you or securely padlock it to something solid in the boot !

Get one of those electric shut off switches with the removable key like rally cars have fitted and hide the switch somewhere
Cheap easy and unless most thieves carry a key then there stuck

Get a genuine disklok. Accept nothing else - pretty much all crooklock/stoplock/autolock type things are complete pony that can be removed in seconds, and in some cases HELP the thief to steal your car by providing handy leverage to snap the steering column lock.

Thanks guys. The ones i've seen on Ebay say they are 'small'. I guess i'll have to measure my wheel. My steering wheel seems quite large.

Get the bright yellow disklok too. I think once they see it, they don't bother.

If you can get to a Costco (or can find someone who is a member) i recall they have (or had) the yellow ones for £40. Which was gutting since when i first bought my silver one it cost me £80.... Fitting guide - www.disklokuk.co.uk/fitting.htmlBut definately get the genuine article, since immitation ones are likely to be made badly with very poor welds.....

This reminds me of when I was still in college and uni and low funds. - pull the fuse of your ecu/fuel pump in the fusebox - hidden switch for fuelpump. Let's them drive it for as long as the line runs dry. Which is normally before the end of the road . - (Head/exterior)light fuse (not the most obvious one but you can't drive in the dark without them, and the police will stop the car. - Killswitch, FIA/Rally spec between battery and the rest the car - Quick release steering wheel (not low budget or cheap since boss + decent quickrelease and wheel can add up fast) but my al time favorite is a spare car horn (scrapyard for free if your lucky), cheap switch from halfords and some electrical cable. Put the horn somewhere deep in your engine bay or underneath out of sight, hide the switch somewhere (if you put it on the outside make sure it's a waterproof ish one), and link the cable to a switched current a.k.a. anything that switches on when you start the car (make sure it's the correct current). If you don't use the switch before starting the car the horn will sound. You know where the switch is so you can cut it off in seconds but anyone else will make a run for it, trust me

^ That's quite a cool idea, a hidden on/on switch between the horn and the ignition/starter system, nothing like drawing some attention to the thieves!

Disklok on ebay!
I have also put my seat forward, and looped a sturdy bike lock through the headrest and steering wheel.

I had an idea for a car version of the "bed of nails" Basically a frame that fitted with padlock above the drivers seat base that had 6" nails pointing upwards. Paul H
