We had to take my fiancee's Golf to the local Honda stealership yesterday, to have a quote to repair her front end shunt. Normally I'd get the work done myself, but we're taking this one through the insurance as she tapped another car and it's going to cost several $$$$. Aaanyway, whilst there, a little CR-Z caught my eye. I don't like much uber-modern stuff, but I surprised myself with this one. Missus' didn't like it though. From what I can see, the designers have used some styling cues from the old CRX, without trying to call it a CRX. I like that. Anyway, this is what they could look like: And this is an original CRX: Obviously both are modified and I really like them both for different reasons. Anyone else got any interesting 'before and after' type photos?

without trying to call it a CRX. Hmm. I know what you mean, but 'CRZ' isn't a total departure...

That top one looks brilliant. I'd wager that these may be very popular given time. I thunk the CRZ is far closer in execution than the much overly exagerrated between the GT86 and the Corolla from 20 years prior.

I had a test drive of the CRZ when they first came out, and although not overly quick it had a great chassis. I have to say that (weirdly) this was more fun though:- It reminded me of a mk1 or early mk2 16 valve Rex. That same zing from the engine and roughly as quick. Much better value than the CRZ too. As a comparison, my old Rex:-

They look fantastic from the outset and sporty J tin will always have a place with fans of old and new. As for the GT86 vs. Celica, the GT isn't that bad... Road tax is pretty horrendous though iirc.

Really? Not feeling it, personally... Try one (if you can find one) and maybe you'll be surprised. As bland as a hybrid promises to be it's actually a lot of fun. Honda worked really hard to make it as light as possible so its actually reasonably quick (ok, not GT4 rapid but in relative terms...) and has really tidy handling. I would actually spend my own money on one.
