Hi Guys
Do any of you guys do any car detailing?
Both my daily s are looking really scruffy and could do with a thorough clean/polish
I`ve seen loads of sites on the internet about detailing your car but there is so much info i can`t work out whats best
Has anyone got a simple routine and recommended products without spending a fortune?
Thanks Adrian

Hi Adrian
You ideally want to clay them, followed by a polish (if needed) then a wax or sealant.
Merguiars tyre gel is a must, it's amazing stuff for more than just tyres!
Poorboys do some good sealant called exp.
Are you going to be polishing by hand?

Wash 2or 3 times to get most if the diet off. Then clay it followed by polish and wax. If you do the flaying properly the polish and wax is really easy. I did a car that hasn't been washed properly for 10 odd years took me 16 odd hours to clay it properly but but I was being a bit OTT

I have been valeting and detailing for over 20 years, yes a clay bar is fantastic on show/concorse or very exotic motors but a lot of bother on a daly. My advice would be to start with a good wash (don`t use washing up liquid as this is designed to take greese ect off and contains salt) "Muck off" wash and wax is about the best off the shelf unless you want to spend lots, folloing that you can use tar and glue remover (or white sprit) to get the tar spots off the paint, if your paint is dull try "Farecla" G6 with a med compound head for your mop. Follow this with a good wax/polish, auto glym, zymol or a good hard wax will give you protection for 6 months if you wash the car each week, windows I find Aldi spray glass cleaner realy good and cheep used with newspaper I never have any problems. Tyre dressing Turtle wax "wet and black" can`t falt it even next to expencive trade products. As for wheels try and get hold of some "Smart wheels" from Auto smart thay supply most main dealers and most valeters will sort you out with a spray bottle full for a packet of fags, while your blagging that try and get some "G101" as well this will clean anything and is realy good on interiors and seats. Hope thast helps a bit, any advice drop me I line on here or call 07563345459. Thanks Matt

Mackro do realy good micro fiber cloths as well. If you can try and get a "vileda flunky" about £5/£6 from e-bay any valeter worth his salt will tell you there the best.
