Hi am new to the forum although long tome lurker , have a great fondness for retro classics in particular and as such have a few projects myself ,although they are taking so long due to having family etc etc My daily runner got me thinking as its a 1992 car , now before I make an idiot of myself and post pics in the readers rides etc just wanted to check its ok first and considered retro- ish enough ...... It's a bit of a marmite car and has some issues I will be sorting when time prevails so thought I'd have a go at a thread as its my daily
anyway great forum very friendly community feel to it and some amazing cars and skills shown on some of the projects and threads on here
anyway cheers long winded I know but new on here so making an effort hahah

Surely this can be defined by the rules of RRG? Wherein:- if you are in the cool kids you can pitch up in whatever you like, any age, even a brand new VW city car. That's RETRO! if you are NOT in the cool kids you can arrive in your car, and even if said TYPE of car was made from the 50's onwards, if you're the wrong side of the cut-off date, then you're not coming in. Don't be a curse word. If you are on a club stand you can arrive in any year of car, we just ask that the majority of cars on the stands are older and that they are all modified if they are newer. Retro parking is a different matter and has an age cut off, which is not actually quite as strict as it first appears. but hey, you're an edgy outsider fo'life, so carry on spreading nonsense with your clique of people that are 2edgy4me.

Is it not? I was told it was totally strict. Thus no point coming halfway across the country on the likely chance of being turned away and parking the old-tech car in the public car park. Here is the thing with retro parking, and someone will drag this up and make life difficult next year I'm sure, basically you are guaranteed to get in a pre-91 car, that is the rule ... however we all know that a date cut off doesn't encompass what retro stuff is all about, so discretion is used. The new stuff that was in the show area was part of club stands. The Retro Parking had a few post 91 cars in it, but they were usually later models of retro stuff, a 93 E30 Beemer or a 92 Alfa 33 would of course be in retro parking. All sensible people that had cars they considered suitable but may have been tricky to get into retro parking came as part of club stands (the RR regional stands were up with the retro parking area). So be sensible next time Mr.Pog and get on a stand... what were you going to bring anyway? and if you want to get sniffy about getting in because of who you know, I suspect Keefy would have let you in regardless of what you had (to a certain degree), so you could always exercise that... I'm a bit less of a push over though (unless it is sill scrapingly low)

Interesting... not sure how that got in, unless it was one of the people that works at Prescott, they have a small parking area up there, I think a couple of the traders sneakily stashed their cars in there too... it shouldn't have been in there though, and if it was it shouldn't have been anywhere obvious (we agreed with Prescott et al where to park).

There were quite a few up there. More than a handful. And the club stands were full of had some unmodified post-2000 stuff. Two standard 02 plate Z3s spring to mind.
