Whilst lying on the concrete pondering why Lexus use so many bolts, screws, grommits and gaskets I realised I was too old to lie on the cold wet ground and needed a creeper. Just been to halfords and got this: www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&productId=899721&catalogId=10151Not their professional range quality but at £74.99 (£59.99 with a trade card) is pretty good value. Cheaper than buying all the individual parts and an extra set of chocks, axle stands and jack will come in handy. Time will tell how it stands up to the abuse I have planned, I'll let you know (if anyone is interested )

Yes its still good value thinking what a ok quality jack costs nowadays , especially considering its from a place you can take it back to easily if you have probs , unlike online retailers etc . Its a good idea to check halfrauds website for offers , they do some good deals .

ive had a similar set but cant speak much for it to be honest, the body board died very early doors, anyone working on a driveway thats flagged or a unit with an uneven floor it just gets stuck, and as u have to lift urself up to get moved, itl bend in the middle! axle stands arent bad, mine don't have the triangle bottom and have withstood some excessive weights. the jack is poor, but has lasted longer than alot of the bargain ones ive tried in the past.

I've got the (albeit, older, like others seem to have) axle stands, and the jack - been abused multitudes of times over the course of about 5 years Only thing I've still yet to "sort" is the lowering valve for the jack - far too sensitive to just use the end of the jack handle IMO. Had many a scary moment where I've gently and slowly turned the valve, only to have it suddenly jerk and nearly have the car fall off the jack! Also far too easy to push the handle on too far, and have to wiggle it about to get it back off!

I think I should mention that there are (or were when I was last in halfords a week or two ago) two sets with similar equipment, firstly the orange, halfords own set, as in the op's post, and a red set by a company I have never heard of which is much cheaper. I have never bought either, but a friend bought the red set and has been constantly disappointed by it, main example being the collapsing of the creeper in the middle.
Just my little bit, hope it helps a bit.

If anyone is just after a creeper and lives anywhere near a CES branch - they do two at £35, one with an angled headrest and one without. The one without an angled headrest is also available online but at £42 (why more?) www.autosessive.com/8/section.aspx/?q=creeperJust to be clear - I have no connection with CES other than I get a lot of stuff from them.

The creeper survived being run over by a Land Rover, other than flattening the castors which were easily replaced- so it can't be that bad! The jack isn't the strongest thing in the world though, my mates one goes down over a day or so and as said before, is a bit "jumpy" on the release.

Bought a halfords tool set the other day
Kid behind the counter said they had changed supplier
The case is wibblepoo, and the whole thing feels cheap
Really disappointed. Have been a fan of the socket sets for years, just thought i'd have another for work.

Had many a scary moment where I've gently and slowly turned the valve, only to have it suddenly jerk and nearly have the car fall off the jack! This. Also I find the saddle of the jack is a bit small, so be careful with that. I tend to put something between it and the jacking point to spread the load a bit.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

The creeper seems to have stood up to a weekend of abuse pretty well unscathed. There isn't much flex in the middle although 8 casters would probably been better than 6. Overall pretty chuffed with the set so far.
