Afternoon all,
Okay, I just bought these on the understanding that they’re for an Austin Metro. Couple this with the correct ARC-Alurad marking on the front face, old Pirelli P7s and looking very similar to those fitted to a rare special edition Metro, I assumed that’s what they were.
Closer inspection reveals a tiny difference in the design and a quick check of the PCD reveals it to be 108 mm – so they’re not for a AMT Fraser Metro as I thought. Or indeed any Metro...
So, what we do have then is a set of 5 very retro and very rare, quality (German-made) early 1980s rims for (I think) a front-drive Ford or Peugeot. I need to confirm, but size from when I bought them was said to be 6x13 and they’re wrapped in 175/50/13 rubber, which seems about right.
Condition looks quite good but I think one has a bit of corrosion on the face. There’s certainly not much kerbing and although I’ve never run them on a car, I can’t see any obvious problems with them. All five centres are present but one has become brittle and broken up. All aside from one tyre (maybe two) are entirely shot.
The pic is straight from storage and I want to give them a good clean to see if I can see any other markings etc, but the reason I wanted to get them up here pronto is because I live quite close to the Gathering (Gloucester), so there’s a chance that someone who’s going could always collect these at the same time if they were interested. Anyone's welcome to come and have a look/check one on their car.
I think £125 seems pretty reasonable for something that’s a little different to the norm.
Now, will the pic work...
