The 'Carrera Mouse' This Fiat Abarth replica was the cute hit of the 2007 Carrera. The blog can be found here and it's a pretty good read. The car was up fore sale last year just as I'd put the deposit down on the Bahamas Speed Week and I was torn. Here was something that was a 10th of the horsepower and a quarter of the size of most entrants and while running near the back did not put in a shameful performance keeping within a couple of minutes of the big boys. It went better on the hills than expected and needed waaaay less fuel stops. 40mpg on the Carrera is unheard of! Anyhoo if I remember correctly it went for a little over $11k, more than I could afford but still cheap enough to be thinking 'what-if' for the next couple of months. I'd still love one and I keep an eye cocked for a solid shell On the road The build Evening stop OUCH! : Typical Carrera loss of concentration

Would a V8 Healey not be a good starting point for an entrant?.......

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

It would be bl00dy marvellous but it would be difficult to persuade the organisers. The event is always oversubscribed and getting cars in that are historically 'iffy' is nigh impossible. Never mind, just' keeping the dream alive

The fact that Olds is even allowed on the road makes me want to be part of this! I know mexico is a little lax on the old road laws but that is just a race car!
Many wins.

See racecarsdirect.com/Advert/Details/101866/mercedes-benz-220-s-amgThis Mercedes Benz was delivered new in Mexico by Reyza S.A. on July 1st 1965. The car went through a complete conversion into a real race car. The engine was changed for a 1993 3.6 litres AMG straight six with double overhead camshafts, fed by three Weber 45 carburettors and producing around 330 hp. All the other mechanical components are upgraded, which includes a large aluminium radiator, and three extra radiators for engine oil, gearbox and differential cooling. The gearbox was swapped for a 5 speed manual by Tremec. The brakes are Brembo and four Bilstein shock absorbers were fitted. Inside, two OMP bucket seats with five points harnesses replace the original interior. They face a Nardi steering wheel and a very complete dashboard. It was raced in three Carrera Panamericanas and at the Rally Maya, proving its quality and reliability.

Never mind, just' keeping the dream alive excuse chronic ignorance...but what would exclude the healey? a lot of the entrants seem to be heavily modified and with not necessarily (to my untrained eye) period parts??

Has to have raced in period and no V8 Healey raced in period. If they had I would have sold a kidney
