i cant get any oil level and water temp readings on my conversion . checking with a multimeter on the sensor pins the voltage seems to be getting to them but no movement on the gauges any ideas ??

Power to the gauges? Try shorting the lead thats meant for the sensor onto the block, the gauge should jump to its limit.

Try shorting the lead thats meant for the sensor onto the block, the gauge should jump to its limit. tried that and the needle goes all the way up like you say . but not when connected to the temp sender sensor . i know the sender was working fine before the engine conversion ,so i doubt its in fault . is there a way to test the sender off the head by heating with a hot air gun ??
