and nothing at all like Teen Spirit.
I finally managed to get enough charge into the Oldsmobile battery for the thing to turn over long enough to start the car. The Olds is normally a good starter but its been sitting for 6 months over winter so its been a bit more trixy to get going.
So I gave it a quick run round and its not nice. The front nearside brake is grabbing, the offside doesn't appear to be working at all and of course the trans is slipping and I'm not convinced its shifting into top.
But it ran and moved under its own power. Albeit badly.
So with that moved I could have a look at the Buick.
One quick squart of Powerstart and two turns of the starter. And the Buick was always the hard starter... It did need a littrle juice int he battery, although the sitting voltage was still 12.5 and its not been run since September or so.
Thing was idling nice so after a bit of a warm up I took it out for a run and all seemed well. Well. Well enough. I'd forgotten how cool this car is to drive. Love the way the V8 just spins up and the throttle response is crisp and it pulls nice.
The secondaries still aren't opening, but when they do it pinks like hell so I'm not too worried about that. The exhaust is vibrating against the tow hitch which it always did. All seems OK. Could do with a service but Em says not to touch it! LOL
Running into work this morning it was cool. Driving a proper car again after months of Mazda. Pulled up at some pedestrian lights and scoped a young hottie (OK, she was mid 20s but I'm talking relativity here) saw her do a complete double-take when she clocked the car.. Then next thing is she's checking me out and I gotta grin
And it ran right all the way to work.
Result.
Once the Chrysler is back I can investigate whats what with the carb and timing etc and get it running 100% (or at least 100% of what I can do with it)
