So I've been after one of these for a while, (first time i saw one was on this film: Its definitely worth a watch ) looked at importing one, my man in japan was pretty close to finding one for me but then (and i cant remember why exactly) i took a look on the kei cars in the park forum again and bam! there's one for sale black ha11s too, happy days, almost as far away from me as it could be but i wanted it! Booked the 4 trains to get there and almost 5 hours after setting off i was there.
And there it was, tucked away in a really quiet suburban garage, couldn't believe how small it was as ive never seen one up close before. was shown around it everything looked good, central locking, electric windows, a/c, powers steering, airbag, cd player, amazing stock spec for such a small car and considering its age. There are a few bits i want to sort out on it but nothing too labour intensive. So paperwork sorted, money exchanged and its mine off to the mot station........
Look how little it is on that ramp!!! 40 nerve racking minutes later (felt like hours) It passed!!!! few advisories but nothing much.
4.5 hour road trip home.... on my own as well.... kick down is so much fun, boost gauge is funny, half a bar of boost max hahaha and comparing it to my 400bhp datsun, i was pleasantly suprised at how fun it is to drive, top end isn't too great but being 660cc i wasn't expecting a rocket ship, it does cruise on the motorway rather well though. Then there's the fuel consumption...... i thought the needle was stuck on the full mark! (it came with a full tank of fuel! when does that ever happen???) eventually it moved a fraction so i stopped worrying an eventually i stopped at services and topped it up. Even at extortionate service station prices it cost less than £20 to fill it back up, bearing in mind id done over 100 miles and quite a bit of traffic, found this beauty at the petrol station:
and there's the alto grinning like a small child with buck teeth
Back on the motorway.... getting monotonous now until i discovered the overtaking powaaaaaaaa go from drafting a truck, switch lanes, boost up and off we go! a few nods from other discerning drivers and strange looks from some others, and then home, tired, so tired, the car's not tho, still raring to go but no, I'm home now, time for bed with some light reading, the brochures that came with it, even though they're in japanese there were pictures
Next morning, still cant believe ive got it, took some pictures:
love these kind of things:
size comparison:
That's it for now but I'm sure there's more to come
