Right, here is my latest project. 1975 Datsun 120y Coupe. Brought it off an old guy, low kms (100,000 genuine), completely standard. Has come a long way since I got it so here is the story so far, hope you enjoy! When I got it Let the fun begin! Trimmed some bump stops, installed some latter model strut tops (which lower the car), some shorter springs and some lowering blocks in the back. Oh and new wheels! (Hayashi Street, 14x6.5) Got a front spook/chin spoiler Blacked out the door frames (makes a huuuge difference when you compare before and after) Favourite pic The car was an automatic when I got it, so finally decided to sort that out And also got some bike carbs for a bit of fun And thats about it for now, currently waiting for some wheels (on a boat from Japan), Work Equip 01's, 13x7 Cheers!

Looks great! I've had a hankering for one of these for years, but there just aren't any in Ireland. I really liked the Hayashi Streets, but Equips are always a good idea. They're a strange looking set of Equip 01, don't look as 'sharp' or something - more like a mix of Equip 01s and SSR mk2s!! They look cool as, anyway!
I'd say the bike carbs sound mega!

Yeh the equips are early ones, later ones look slightly different and have more bolts which also chnage the look quite a lot. I got them mainly as there are 13s (hayashis are 14s) and think the ar suits smaller wheels better. Will need to lower it some more to look decent Here is a quick video of the carbs running

Ah yeah, cool. I like those 01s better than the later, actually. Video isn't working for me, think you have the album set to private.
I can't get over how rust free that thing is!

Impressed to see one still in relatively stock guise, all of the 120's I see in ZA have 4AGE engines cressida gearboxes and are used as learner drift cars

Cheers all!
Once the wheels arrive il get some tyres for them (175/50R13s) and will look into making up some coilovers for the front, and will get leaves reset in the back.
Also have some extractors to go on it as well.

Driveshaft is away getting rebuilt and balanced, hopefully sort out some of the vibrations. Got two tyres (175/60s for now) on new wheels (thanks to Joe, and will have two more next week!) so chucked them on. Obviously needs to go lower but it is not as comical as I was expecting so will roll them once all tyres are on. got the ruler out and another 2" drop will tuck ~10mm tyre up front and a bit more at the back (sills are level) so thats the next step. Will then be able to run 175/50s without looking stupid.

Love these cars first car my dad bought new, she was a brown 4 door saloon a 1976 registration. We went everywhere in that car very reliable as I remember, he kept it until 1982 when he bought an escort. I believe when he sold it the front suspension trumpets where starting to rot out, weak point on these cars I believe. Great to see such a nice one, I love the dash and interior on them.
