Are there any roads you sometimes drive to, just to drive along? Do you often take a detour just for a bit of fun twisty action, or a nice flat straight? Now that the sun is finally on its way lets get a list of roads that are really worth driving.....
Had the wonderful task of driving up to Manchester for work on Friday to visit a contractor. Luckily though since I'm not insured for work purposes they got me a hire car... the Fiesta I was expecting turned out to be a Astra SRi Satnav took me over the moors from Chesterfield on the way there which is my usual route and nice, but nothing special and quite busy. However as I turned out of the carpark to come back, the Satnav had a funny turn and sent me back towards Sheffield....
...which took me along Snake Pass, the A57 Ive gotta say that is THE best road I've driven for years. Slightly dulled by the newness of the car but conversely it was nice to feel safe and maybe push that bit harder. Most of the corners are very open and visible and there's very few hidden nasties. Lots of overtaking, or equally lots of laybys to stop in when you catch traffic up and give them 5 minutes to get a good lead on you
Was actually quite disappointed when it started to drop into Sheffield, really enjoyed the blast in the sun and the great views.
So come on, recommendations please!
