I downloaded this one hour film from Bittorrent and it's fascinating. A Cosworth beating a Nissan R31 (or maybe a R32), blazer-wearing Ford management discussing a ploughmans lunch, the Andy Rouse American Mercior (SP?) - the American version of the Sierra (?), comparisons with the Lotus Cortina, etc etc. It's great! Especially the early sierra development footage and povo spec high speed driving set to the instrumental dance dub of the Human League's Don't You Want Me. A rave from the grave - and as I have just purchased a Cosworth racing car, it is highly appropriate. Bittorrent here: www.mininova.org/tor/174907

After the Datsun had gone to its new home I unloaded the Cosworth race car from the trailer last night and put it in the garage.
It's a four door Sapphire ex-group N (I think that's what it's called) touring car with a full cage, stripped everything. Group N was a production class so it is mostly standard engine, brakes and suspension - lower and stiffer though. It needs a bit of recomissioning - I need to do the front brake pads, bleed the brakes, check the timing, replace the HT leads and spark plugs. It has a new head and rebuilt turbo and it feels good to drive. Pics will follow soon. I'm thinking of spraying an octopus on the bonnet ;-)
The idea is to do some maintenance and make it reliable at the track through a couple of track days, then to try to run in the Classic Touring Car Club pre-93 series.
It was cheap and should be fast, fun and relatively easy maintenance.
I'm not sure it's really a Retro Rides thing.

ANd what is the point of replacing " " with a picture of an old geezer. An in-joke I guess. But why? And who? And can't I just say a r s e? Charlie
