now then my 44 idf's arent letting any fuel through, so i pulled the top off them and cleaned them out - then i cleaned out the brass bolt just near where the fuel line fixes, which had a bit of dirt in it, then i took the jets out and cleaned them through
but still no petrol
how far do i have to go to get fuel coming through ? do i have to strip them entirely ?
can someone give me a trouble shooting guide ?
oh yeah and its deffo the carbs as fuel comes out of the fuel lines if i up end them

My first thoughts would be to look at the float assembly. Is the fuel pump definitely pumping fuel? There could be fuel in the line from the pump but not getting moved anywhere.

Hehe, OK ;D. Yes that sounds like the float. There should be some sort of needle valve near to where the thing pivots up and down. That might be blocked. I'm not familiar with these carbs so can't be any more specific I'm afraid. To test the fuel pump (assuming it's a mechanical one) you could get someone to crank the engine whilst you stand with the disconnected fuel pipe end in a clear bottle. If fuel comes out you know the pump is doing its job ;D.

Just a thought, when you took the tops off the carbs, were the chambers full of fuel? If they were empty I'd suspect a knackered fuel pump.

In that case I'd look at the fuel lines and filter for a blockage (nice and cheap to replace). If not then shine a 100W lamp in the fuel pumps face and interrogate it, Gestapo-stylee ;D Let us know how you get on
