Try bump starting the mini in second gear, that will free the clutch parts. just make sure there is nothing in the way, just be ready to knock it out of gear, if things go wrong! I have used this process many times over the years with no problems.

When you put it in any gear though it is as if its in netural. I've had it in second and been able to freely push it about on the driveway.
Even starting it in gear is exactly the same as if it was netural.

I'm a bit puzzled - if the pressure plate and friction disc were stuck together it'd start in gear, if a gear was selected. Are the gears definitely selecting? You could jack the front end up, put it in 1st and try turning the wheel with the plugs out of the engine to test that, to see if the engine turns . If it does then you're getting gears...

Basicly it sounds like you clutch is stuck on, so your not getting any drive through it what so ever right? just like having your foot on the clutch all the time!
Is the arm free to move? slacken off the stops and try again, plenty of WD40 might help the arm sizes in the cover quite easly.

It feels as if the clutch pedal is down and you are changing into gear, but your not because the clutch pedel is stuck up solid. It is a strange one.

Ooo... Typed the above while Slater posted.
Exactly right. I haven't looked at the arm, I haven't been able to get under the car, but I will be able to tomorrow.

Right, I'm looking at my Minis clutch at the mini. Slater was correct ;D It is the clutch arm that has sized. I've douced it in loads of WD40 and have been tapping it a bit but it wont budge I've been looking around the internet and found help guides that to be honest, arn't much help. They just say spray it with WD40 and tap it and it will free off. I've tryed sticking a long peice of metal between the subframe and arm and tryed to prise it up but it just wont go! Has anyone got any ideas about what I can do? Here's some pictures of the area.

Try opening the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder in case it's a hydraulic lock rather than mechanical seisure.... had this happen with the brakes on a midget once, fluid didnt return to the master cylinder and locked on all the brakes!

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Nice one ScaryOldCortina ;D
The clutch pedal is moving really freely now, too freely though. The gears won't engage, I'm guessing it needs bleeding though?

Looks to me like the piston is seized in that bore. Does that rubber boot come off? Get plenty of WD down there but sounds like the bore is corroded. You might have to take it off, strip it down and clean it out with some fine wet and dry.

has the arm moved back? if so, bleed off and test, if not, wd40 and hammer til it does, then bleed.
