Nice first post!
That Mk2 Cortina must be a rarity out there?

Hey, thanks Yeah, the 'tina is super rare, I have only seen a couple of them in the seven years I have lived here. These are the only 'Tina's that I can remember seeing They where spotted at a British Car Show in San Diego last summer.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing. Some of those Cortina's have been shot for the UK based mag Classic Ford by another member on here, V8wagon... Small world huh? Where is this meet held? Planning on being in California in May and wouldn't mind going along. Done the Derelict Donuts meet in Huntington, I guess this works much the same way?

A few answers..... I live in Orange County - it is on the west coast between Los Angeles and San Diego. Palm Desert is about 100 miles east of here. Huntington Beach is 'just up the road' The Meeting is in Irvine - at the Ford PAG building - the building is visible from the 5 freeway. To get to it from the 5, you need to leave the freeway on Alton and head towards the Irvine spectrum center - then keep your eye out for Porsches and Ferrari's and follow them. It is every Saturday morning at 7AM. Give me a shout if you are coming over for sure, assuming I am in the area I'll join you there. There are an awfull lot of local meetings, my faves tend to be the Hot-Rods and the Mini's (I drive a Bini), usually the meetings are early in the morning or late at night - then there is usually some street-drag action too

Thanks for the info, very useful. We usually base ourselves in Huntington anyway, hence the derelict donut thing... Sounds like another one for the diary. We generally try and cram as much stuff in as possible. I'll send you a PM

enjoying the sunshine maybe ? Front licence plate (number plates) are fairly optional in California, many people do not run them and often keep the original British (etc) plate on the front, sometimes the original stays on the back too and the CA plate is 'displayed' in the glovebox Technically you can get a ticket for such antics, but the instances are pretty rare. besides which, front plate spoil the lines.......

Alternately...... with Cal-plates, there is no reason not to register it in Cal style, but to use brit plates..... a bit like the VW boys do with the German plates.
Great post and awesome cars.
