I bought this a couple of months back as a cheap car to ferry me from Nuneaton to Northampton and back every day. After a couple of weeks use I had it MOT'd, it only needed a tyre and a ball joint to pass. Unfortunately less than 24 hours later, I was involved in an accident on the way back from work. Someone pulled out on me and I went into the side of them at about 30mph. Thankfully this car is a bit of a tank, so the damage sustained wasn't really that bad. It has now been written off as a Category C total loss. I appreciate most people will not read any further, those of you still interested, read on...
The damage from the crash was; smashed o/s headlight, o/s foglight, o/s indicator. Edge of bonnet slightly bent, slight damage to edge of n/s wing, snapped bumper clip. That's it. With a little persuasion the bonnet and wing could easily be bent more or less back into shape, leaving no sharp edges that would cause on MOT fail. I've priced up a used headlight, fog and indicator on ebay and it comes to about £30 tops. If you wanted to swap the bonnet and wing you could pick them up for £20-£30 each but I don't see the point really.
It will need to be VIC checked (this costs £41 and can be done before the car is repaired if you so wish. I can help with this if required as I have a testing place a couple of miles from me.) It will then need to be re-MOT'd, which it will obviously fly straight through as it was tested the day before the accident. Then you can tax it and away you go.
A little more about the car itself;
No rust, fairly tidy apart from the obvious crash damage, a crease in the drivers door, and dimples on the roof and bonnet from hailstones!
111,000 miles with part history. Previous owner had it 13 years, I have receipts for the cambelt and clutch changes.
Very economical 1.9 TD engine, 90bhp, does 45-50mpg. Bosch fuel pump, apparently great for running on veg oil (although this hasn't)
Immaculate interior, VERY comfy to drive.
Hydraulic suspension works as it should.
4 x electric windows, remote central locking, power steering.
4 good tyres.
With a little effort this would be a wonderfully cheap and mildly interesting runabout. I do actually want to keep it but I just don't have time to mess about re-MOTing it etc, I can't afford to be without a car for any length of time so I'm just going to replace it. I should get the car back from the body shop later this week. I will upload some photos asap.
Drop me a message or call me on 07757497050 if you're interested.
Cheers, Matt
