I think a couple of you RR'ers have/or have had Range Rover Classics, so might be able to help me.....
Somebody I work with is moving to Germany so needs shot of his. He's offered it to me for £500 ish
Problem is, this is the first time I've driven one, or crawled underneath one, so I've got little to say if this example is good/bad.
1989 Vouge SE
Shows 51K, but it has apparently had a recon engine and box sometime.
Good Points:
Engine is sweet
Full Stainless exhaust and headers - sounds very nice.
Full leather.
Everything electric works including aircon
Tailgate not to bad
Had a new fuel tank in the last year.
Bad point
Usual peeling laquer,sagging headlining.
Couple of months MOT.
Rear diff leaks
Auto box clonks when shifting into D and R
Wallows a bit (do they all feel like this?)
Couple of holes underneath (see pics)
Needs new rear shocks
Because of the seperate chassis, I'm not sure what's classed as structuaral MOT failure stuff
What do you lot reckon?
This is the inside of the cill just behind the NS front wheel.
It is holed - looks a pig to weld as it is recessed.
Fairly flakey on the rear body mounts
Rest of the chassis is fairly solid and is surface rust only.
Front shock towers/inner wings are also a bit flakey
Honest opinions - should I just walk away from this one?
I can have another look at it anytime, so is there anything specific I should recheck?
I don't mind a bit of work - but don't want to take on a whole new project as I'll never finish the Celica
Thanks
