it depends how good you can spray with cans. Its possible to get a good finish with cans, but if you havent done much spraying before I'm not sure i'd do a whole car. Ever paint job that i've seen rollered has always had a fairly decent finish, and rollering is a piece of p!ss.

I'd use rattle cans so long as you have somewhere thats not windy to do it.

ive got the use of a semi-empty warehouse next week so its perfect for both tbh. I'm curse word with spraying but i have got help from someone whos done it loads. the bodywork on mines pretty ropey and i was hoping the rollered paint would help fill it up better (the old paint comeoff in chunks in places)

Rattlecans for me.....easier to change if you decide at some stage you want to, depends on what type of paint you want to roller I suppose though- some of 'em you can't paint over coz they react....but I'd go for rattlecans.

If it was warmer, I'd say rattle cans. But I think in these damp cold conditions you run the risk of getting a bloom all over the paint. Unless your mates warehouse is heated, that is...

sorry to buck the trend! saw quite a few roller painted campers at Run to the Sun last year and I love the effect, just make sure you uses small foam rollers to get a good effect, the cloth type one will give a rougher finish NATO green any army surplus shop will stock it £35 for 5 litres aprox (enough to paint 2.5 landrovers so I am told )

as far as i know roller pant cars take a very long time, and plenty of flatting back between coats, id rattle the wee begger if it was up to me, well id just use my new compressor spray it tbh

ive got a week of evenings to do it so time not too much of an issue.
i want it really really matt so satin was not really an option.
to be fair i think I'm leaning towards the roller job because a) I'm sh*t at spraying and b) I'm a lazy masker and c) its much cheaper

yeh i had found that thread a few weeks back. tremclad is supposed to be great. I'm fine with the work involved with the rollering plus with 3/4coats its gonna be tough as nails (unlike rattlecan which will chip easy as ****).
really tho, the rollering is only tough because of the rubbing down between coats.....but the paint i can get only needs keying between apparently! 1 coat a night for 3/4 nights should be thick as you like!
