Thyere quick motors, ive got a 214, but it keeps breaking down. Poor running is often caused by bad HT leads, plugs cap, rotor. Mines crank sensor is up the chute. All easy repairs but annoying.

Mine's got GTI suspension and power steering*. if you can get those they really improve the drive. *however this requires a different subframe Also the seats in the GTI are much firmer and give great lateral support

I think the 400 saloons look better than the 200 hatches..... Keep it red, drop it on gloss black banded steelies......sort of faux mini-NASCAR??
Just a thought...... :-)

Look for the like shaped HONDA modding sites and then steal/edit/use their basic ideas.
The bodyshel, thus shape is after all Honda.

its the same exactly as the one above, the one i've got is in good order but going to do the cambelt & servicable items & give it a good clean & polish, it defo needs alloys or banded rims (these are the preferance, do they share the same studd pattard as other manyfacturers, i've only had one other rover which was my metro gti 1.8, the 414 is a completely differant car of course is this the honda concerto in rover guise? ? I think it looks ok! just needs maybe a euro look! maybe a spoiler on the bootlid & spoiler/splitter of some description on the front bumper, any badges will be removed of course but outher than that I don't know at all what to do, I do know I want to do it cheap as possible & not mess with the paint/bosy as it is mint! i cant really slam it as i'd want to as its a daily & i'm trying to be practical, it will get a full stainless exhaust of some type though a photoshop or ideas/pics would be great as I am struggling with this one, although maybe roxy music/brian ferry on the stereo comes to mind haha ;D

hmm, it needs super drop over wide, black wheels (alloys, stelle, stelloys...) and a tartan rug to counter the straight-thru. add some badge removal (not the rover badges though)
in my eyes its hitting retro btw.

the tinted glass suites the car, i thought this when i veiwed it!
4x100 pcd so some cheapo wide alloys rattle canned satin black, possibly some wide dub rims???
a complete removal of all the badges & chrome trim may do the trick in the looks stakes!
what size rims do you think would be best to give the comprmise between the car looking lower as i don't really want to lower it, rims that would fill the arches but not lft the car in height, if ya get my meaning!
the honda concertos above ar'nt bad in an oldschool 80's j-tuning way!

could anyone have a fiddle on photochop to see what rims like this would look like on a rover 400, I would appreiciate muchly, cheers, out of curiousity? do you guys think a 13" wide rim steel or alloy with chunky tyres or a 15" with lo-pros is the way to go, or shall I just go with 13" rims with lo-pro's & think 'balls' to the gearing? i'm looking to get a bit of a comprimise between wheel and tyre choice with standard ride height do you think I should get a spoiler on the bootlid or not, I don't like them but I thought the saloon rover 414 I have may look ok with a small one??? i'd prefer not to drill holes though if i'm honest i don't like spoilers at all apart from those little ones that are like a lip on the edge:D gonna take the chrome trim out of the rubbing strips & bumpers replace with black trim instead & make the bumpers look there best back to black or a heat gun method! what upgrades are cheap as chips for the 1.4 k-series twink, I have a decat pipe for it already £2 of egay, well chuffed! i must say all mods are to be done at as near to no cost as possible i'll have pics of the standard car at the weekend I think, woo hoo a rover a rover the engine wont turn over haha a quote from top gear ages ago!

At the risk of being labelled a Council Estate Touring Car driver, I'd fit a decent induction kit.....won't make it much quicker (if at all) but on a 1400 K-series they sound great...mashing the loud pedal brings forth more barking from under the bonnet than your local branch of The Dog's Trust. :-)

i just want to make the 414 so that on 1st looks at the car you'd think grandad has spent the extra few quid on the optional extra wide wheels but to those in the know of us car fiddling! types will know it aint the 80 old i bought it off driving it! the zaust has to be changed as its about to blow itself apart so that will be a tude type 4 branch from my old metro gti going on it rather than the cast iron thing on it, i have a decat pipe & the rest i'll make with stainless tubing & i'll see if i can get a cheapo but good nic stanless backbox of egay, prob keep 2 silancers on it but up the tubing size, induction kit to get rid of some engine bay plastic is it the later mg type rover k engines that had the bigger alloy 52mm throttle body, i'll get one of those on it if i get one cheap cheap! just incase i have a fit of the slamming syndrome, how much would i lop off the standard coilsprings to drop it about an 1"-1.5" cheers it even has the original rover cassette radio hehe with stereo sound
