.....My new wheels Shes a 1980 W116 Merc 350 in fetching shade of cocacola green and should be good old barge for Le Mans. The W116 seems to be a bit forgotten and unloved , has anyone got any pics of modded 116s? I'd love to see em.

Sweet! Love the Merc, whats the plan with it? The plan is to fill the boot with beer and blast across France to a 24 hour race, after that who knows?

Cheers for the comments guys. How easy is this to achieve? Are springs available off the peg or shared with other Mercs or is it a job for the angle grinder?

Very nice. Love the polished pentas on the maroon offering. 6.9 would be the shizz, there were a couple being sold on e-bay a few weeks ago can't remember what they went for though.

Are springs available off the peg or shared with other Mercs or is it a job for the angle grinder? I'd say that was a job for airbags... The 6.9 came with air suspension, and I think possibly the 450SEL as an optional. But for the price that a breakers would want for a second-hand set-up you could get a brand new air system I reckon. I think suspension is specific to this car, although you might find it shares a front subframe with the W107. That's a stab in the dark though. Angle grinder would do the job though

Angle grinder would be the way but you'll curse word the driveshafts and they're really pricey, even for scrappers.
As hw says, bags would do it. Trouble is, you're looking at least a grand just for up/down.
One-pump hydraulic setup with accumulators?

Can I ask how much?
Old mercs are really starting to appeal to me, as most of them seem so well cared for!
