Right! The time is nearing (23rd of March) that the V8 gets taken off the road for a week to have it's first overhaul - interior (what's left) all out, repainted inside......full service, the works.
Then it's MOT time.
However - whilst the car is off the road I plan to do a few upgrades to bring it in line a little. On the list so far is:
- Rally design steering coupling (got)
- New exhaust system with 1 small silencer, with a QTEC electric cutout after the manifolds meet to a side exit
- Sierra (or Wilwood) front calipers on my new brackets along with vented & grooved discs & uprated pads
- Instant-release line-lock (not got) and bias valve (got).
- Ignition delay unit, to build up oil pressure before starting & in prep for later nitrous install
- Maybe an ignition kill switch and toggle switch for the 2nd Kenlowe?
However, I was wondering if there's anything anyone could recommend with regards to upgrades - be they little or big things, I'm just looking for ideas as to what to do to make the car more streetable, quicker, better handling and so on whilst it's decomissioned temporarily and everything's to hand and accessible
One of the upgrades I'm thinking of (well, it needs them anyway) is decent tires - I've been looking at those semi-road legal race tyres Toyo make, with the pronounced V pattern in them but wondered if anyone knew any better
I'm thinking of adding a catch tank to prevent the engine breathing it's own gases but there I run out of ideas.......Lighter steel wheels maybe?
And it's already got 4 Alpine speakers, an electric aerial and a nice Kenwood headunit now, for all the ICE boys out there
Any suggestions?
Apologies for the slightly random thread, I'm just a bit lost for ideas.....if there are any left!
