Just scanned this in from an old CCC mag: Awesomely cool IMO. I'd love an LT Camper stickered up like that. Anyone got any retro service barge pics? ;D Bonus points for period action photos ;D

^^^ I had the Corgi model of that when I was little....think it was based on a Commer Avenger coach chassis with the now-legendary supercharged TS3 two-stroke diesel engine.

Just scanned this in from an old CCC mag: Awesomely cool IMO. I'd love an LT Camper stickered up like that. the entire audi sport team stopped at my dads dealership on the way back from the manx in about '84/'85, i cant remember the actual reason why something to do with having to wait for the cars to get across on the next ferry to heysham or something? i still have an audi sport kagoule somewhere....

I'm going to have to procure some sort of service barge when I start racing the Porsche. I can't wait! I want something period but not too terrible to drive

There's a rally team down in South Wales (I think) who use a Mk2 Transit County 4x4 painted in works colours, looks awesome. Back in the late-80's I used to navigate on road rallies, guy who sponsored us had a fantastic ex-AA LWB Tranny with a 3.1 V6 in it and an overdrive box, we service crewed for a lad who had a Grp.N Astra GTE (in fact he's on Matt Neal's BTCC Honda team these days).....fastest van I've ever been in, but only did about 10mpg. The team I've been knocking about with these last few years with the Sunbeam use an ex-Notts Police LWB Iveco 45-10 Dog van. I've got some pics of it somewhere, it's a dreadful rust-bucket, but pulls like a train!!

The Transit County belongs to a feller up near Cardigan who rallies a Fiesta Mark One

When Tatra raced their 4x4 and 6x6 trucks, they used one of these as the service barge (without the ambulance livery!) 3.5 litre aircooled V8, semi-mid mounted so not much room over the engine, but a stretched wheelbase so pretty vast inside.

For completeness, here's a pic of the Tatra service barge Even its best friend wouldn't call it attractive, but it's impressive in the metal!
