I see donks in the same way I see Boso though - as a caricature. Boso is a caricature of track cars, and IMO donks are a caricature of the current trend for ever-larger, bling rims on custom stuff. I can appreciate them for that.

I don't think the people who build them see it that way. Are they not "Boxes" rather than "Donks" anyway? I think the principles are similar,.. its about being as extreme as possible,.. I'm not sure they think its silly,.. but they do think its fun and a competition to be the most extreme. And indeed, they are boxes

They're called donks, boxes or bubbles depending on car model and style i believe......donks are 70's american models, boxes are late 70's/early 80's models (with 'boxy' rear ends) and bubbles being more modern vehicles or something like that I'm in two minds about these, imagine what they'd be like to drive on a B-road at anything over 10mph!But then again they do look like a cartoon so....

Having a penis grafted to the side of your face would be "unusual". Not sure I'd recomend that either.

I'm liking it. Like has already been said, when you can't go any lower... go high! And it is all about the 'one-upmanship'. The bigger your r1mZ and the higher the ride... the better. Oh, and any 'haterz'.... go and tell a typical 'high rise' owner that you think their ride is sh1t. BUKA-BUKA-blaaaagh-I-am-ded.

Yup, its all about how much cash you can throw at some grim looking chromed up rims, not about any thoughtful or considered modification for aesthetic or performance reasons. TBH they might as well just walk down the street with a print out of their bank statements 'cos thats what its all about. Its way crass and thats why I don't like em.

Nail on the head there A-K... It IS like having your bank balance round your neck, that's what it's all about. If you grow up in 'da hood', with no money, no future... and you 'make it big', whether by fair means or foul, you're making a statement that you have done it, that you have cash to burn and everyone else had better take notice!! Also vaguely relevant is that: (a) If you are running a 'cash business' you probably don't want to have or may not have the option of regular banking 'situations'. (b) I'm of the understanding that in the US, taxation on personal savings is actually alot higher than here, so you may as well 'invest' in whatever shiny bling tat you can get your mitts on! Tastless, trashy, but a way of life.
