Browsing the bay earlier for bits for my new Super Minx, I happened across this: Oooooh! I thought and beckoned Poglet Maximus over to have a look. Now normally when I get a new motor, I try to track down a scale model for him, the more identical the better... He was delighted to see this is the perfect kid-size version of dad's new toy! I was not delighted when I saw the price on it!!!! I guess that it IS rarer than a rare thing, but zOMG! That's close on what I paid for the car!!! Closing bid: £159Two questions for you then: Has anyone else spent a serious amount of wedge to have their old clunker in perfect scale minature? And does anyone know if any other model / toy companies did a Super Minx!!? ;D

I found a rather rare Type3 Dinky model on ebay... mine for £2 posted as he'd listed it as a "Volkswagon" and hence wasn't easy to find!
Lacking tyres though. Hmmmm.

Awesome looking model! I wonder what an estate would sell for! Has anyone else spent a serious amount of wedge to have their old clunker in perfect scale minature? No but I have spent a bit of time! Pre-farina vans seem a bit hard to find. One of the small companies did one a few years ago but its not that good and still commands at least £40 which is a bit much for me to then cut the roof off and otherwise turn into a Sun-Tor.

Corgi Vanguards do a very nice Hillman minx, you could get one easily for less than a tenner. Close enough?
Models of Japanese cars, especially saloons, tend to be scarce and unobtainable. I tend to make them out of lego and hope for the best.

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

Not a huge wedge really, about £25, £14 for the minichamps model, and £6 for the Colour match spray in Mercedes Benz Classic Wiess, and £5 for the model canibalised for the wheels. No one seems to make 1:43 BRMs. Not finished the detailing yet.

no major wedge, all my skoda's are in 1/64 estelle guise. never spent any more than a couple of quid on a model of my own car, although i've spent serious time on them. never spent more than £35 on a model anyway and that was a once-off

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I have a Trian "Spot-On" Hillman Minx which is a combination of colour and box style which is apparently so rare it "cannot be valued" according to my mates book of collectors die-cast values. Regular oneis worth £350 accrding to him. I paid £25 for it in the mid 1980s. I have never ownbed a Hillman Minx.
I do have a couple of 1966 Buick models, one AMT and one a Hiauswaga or however you spell it, both in 1.24 and both unbuilt. I paid about $15 each, plus the usual shipping and that.
You could get a promo of the 1965 Oldsmobiles but the prices are mad.
I have a 1968 Plymouth Fury Johan model kit as a cop car (re-issue, but apparently the moulds for the Fury kit were stolen by scrap thieves and melted down so no more re-issues of these) I paid about $20, its numbered on the box as 500 of 2000 or whatever the reissue was. You could get a 2 door as a promo back in the day but the moulds for these were modified to be the 4 door police car kit which was actually issued a year later or so. I have seen the promos go on eBay for big money.

As a habitual toy car fanatic, I've bought a fair few in my time but the potential future value was never a factor - I simply bought what I could afford and what I liked. Most of them are cars from the 70's, particularly ordinary road cars. I did pick up the Corgi Italian job coach and 3 mini's for around £25.00 when new in 1999. I thought it was a little pricey for 3 poorly detailed minis and a Bedford Val in the wrong scale, but these for some reason are commanding silly prices on ebay. A small selection of my models are here: www.reallyloud.co.uk/photo_index_toys.htm
