Alas, the time has come to bid farewell to my purple monster. This wonderful specimen of automotive engineering has been sitting unused for too long and I'd like to see somebody get some use out of it - there's still plenty of life left in the old girl.
I've had it for about four years now and not covered a huge amount of miles, but it has been immensely useful in that time - amongst other tasks, it's transported 5 blokes and their mountain bikes on a trailer all over Wales.
I was abroad with work for the bulk of last year, so this has been stationary on my drive for some time now. It's been started up on a regular basis to make sure that things are still ticking over. Unfortunately, I can no longer afford to run three cars, I'm getting hitched in July and I could do some cash and the space.
This is a high spec model with all the bells and whistles (some not working, see below). It has the bomb proof yet very refined 2.5l 24v 190BHP straight 6 coupled to the desirable M90 gearbox. Generally it's in fairly good nick for a 19 year old car. Apart from the usual scuffs on the corners and the typical car park dings, the bodywork is straight.

The Bad:
Please, somebody save this beauty from the scrappie!

The Good:
- Factory fitted with the following toys:
- Self-levelling suspension, Full leather, heated electrically adjustable front seats, Cruise control, Climate control, Electric sunshine roof, actually pretty much electric everything... cabin is a thoroughly pleasant place to be.
- It has a newish battery.
- Five alloy wheels (actually, I can throw a sixth of a different type in too the sweeten the deal ;-)
- Two front tyres are brand new, rest have plenty of tread.
- New exhaust centre section.
- Backbox deleted by means of a flexi-pipe dodgily bracketed in place (looks odd but sounds beautiful).
- Cavernous boot with a loadspace bootliner.
- Factory roof railss
- Towbar with dual electrics
- Can be insured relatively cheaply on a classic policy. Last time I insured this 18 months ago it was about £170 for the year (I was 33 at the time).
The Bad:
- Failed MOT on Monday with the following: handbrake not working (cable arrangement is somewhat homemade and highly suspect), rear discs and pads need replacing, needs a new wiper blade and a light bulb. There may have been one other thing like a suspension bush, but I don't have the fail sheet so can't be sure what it was. The garage quoted me £275 to get it through the MOT, but I don't have the cash. I'm sure these little jobs could be done much cheaper by somebody with the know how and time.
- Of the toys listed above, the following are not working particularly well:
- driver's seat doesn't get warm, cruise control not functioning, air conditioning doesn't chill the air particularly well if at all
- Alarm/Immobiliser arrangment seems to have been bypassed by a previous owner (common on these I believe)
- Has a very slight coolant leak, not sure where from, I've kept it topped up with fresh coolant and it doesn't seem to lose that much
- Some window seal rubber is decayed and missing in places (again common on these)
- Trim on door cards peeling off in places (again common on these)
- The passenger side sun visor is not attached but I'm sure I have it somewhere
- Small oil leak from rocker cover
