Right... I've noticed a few 'top notch' modern cars in mags rolling on satin black wheels with red rims. What do we think of this style? Kool or trying too hard? And what if they were applied to something a bit older, something that perhaps already has a 'red and black' theme going on? Opinions and illustrations please! (Have scoured the web but can't find owt!) Ta.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

don't do it - it only works with black, white or silver cars imho.
Save the iS.
Edit: Black with polished lip would work though...

Not a disaster if I try it and it doesn't work.... I have two sets of those Alpina rimZ, so a 'trial run' on the scuffed set wouldn't hurt.

I plan to have the coupe S steels banded and a red stripe around the rim on the Polo Should look fantabulous.

Right... I've noticed a few 'top notch' modern cars in mags rolling on satin black wheels with red rims. What do we think of this style? Kool or trying too hard? Ta. Looks like a new fashion to me. Which means it'll be out of date and somewhat "last year" by next year. You may as well go for a draylon interior.

i like that crx, but I'm a fan of grafting front ends from different cars tho. eg mk3 golf with mk4 front end
the wheels work for me, its that cars that let the combo down

Seconded. The red/black wheels only work on certain cars too, but they do work.

Black car with black/red rims is a good look IMO, japanese street racer style. There is a 300zx twin turbo near me like in that style, shweet!
I am not a purist but a CRX with a E36 front end is a bit tastless (even though it seem like a good job) each to there own and all that jazz!

honestly, the crx is worth more than a e36 anyway! fan of the style, believe its been going a couple of years or more, and is fairly small and specialised, so if it survives till december 07, its hawt and its in!
