Unfortunately the time has come to part with my Jetta. I’ve moved to London (from Glasgow where car is located) and I cannot afford to store it down south. Cannot justify owning the car to take it out twice a year so today was my last sunny day in it (unless the buyer wants it delivered )
1986 Type 19 Mk2 Jetta Coupe – very rare 2dr with 1800 16v engine and box.
Showing around 105,000 miles but was fully rebuilt from original 1.6 to 1.8 kr 16v engine with twin carbs around 2 years/10k ago.
Engine bay fully smoothed, battery (brand new big battery with warranty) and ancillaries relocated to boot, top-fill radiator, SPAL fans, Facet fuel pump and pressure regulator with kill switch, short manifold, twin 40 DHLA Dellortos, 4 Branch exhaust manifold, heat wrapped, full stainless system, 16v front brakes, bearings and hoses. No expense spared.
Bodywork is very good aside from one or two tiny spots, fantastic overall for age though.
Weitec Hicon GT coilovers and mounts. Cannot remember the make of the wheels but lovely and wide with stretched rubber (all tyres very good). Centre cap stickers need replaced and some of the chrome on the rear wheels has lost its shine, there is nothing on the car that a bit of time/elbow grease couldn’t get to a high standard.
MOT’d to November 2013,
Taxed until August
Classic insurance with Adrian Flux is dirt cheap
Has never let me down but lack of use means she has got to go. I’ve found the carbs need balancing every 3-4 months (DIY or tuning centre) plus can take 10-15 seconds to start because of the fuelling system.
Happy for viewings/test drives but it is unlikely to be me that shows you the car.
Car is dry stored in Glasgow.
Can deliver it to wherever.
Can connect you with the guy who built it (in Northern Ireland) to verify details of the motor.
