Hi Guys, Thought i'd start a new build thread for my E21 BMW. Just got the car so still working out what needs doing. Its a part finished project so i need to spend some time working out whats been done and what hasn't. The car was oringaly a 316 Auto but a 2.3ltr engine and manual box has been dropped in, don't know if the brakes have been swapped and the engine hasn't run in its new home. Got some rust to sort out but so far.. touch wood.. its not too bad  Its true, BMW drivers do follow close   Some ones got a bit fiberglass happy and made the bottom half of the passager side wing out of it.  I know jack... about old BMW so it will be a learning curve, the tempation to put carbs on is great.. |

That looks expensive to do and very breakable. The aim for this car is cheap cheap cheap.
First off i need to get the engine running. Odd question but where should the fuel pump be? under the car, in the boot? Currently its on the back seat not connected and i'm trying to find where the wiring for the pump is.

Little update, got the wing off to have a look what lies beneath.  Not too bad, little rust hole but not too bad at all    Then there's the front panel to fix  And the rotten wing is off  |

Looking good mate, I'd love to see it done as a group 5! Just get some plywood  also you're a lucky curse word, that is far too solid for a cheap cheap cheap e21! Least it means I won't get roped into too much welding ;D Sent from my GT-I9100P using proboards |

Checked the wiring and all looked ok, connected the battery to see if i could turn the engine over. Put the keys in and turn it to the first position, got the oddest noise, sounded like somthing sucking though a pipe.. odd. tried to turn it over but nothing, no click from the starter or anything so i think a wire isn't connected some where.

Good find fella.  Gotta love an e21. The 323 fuel pump is usually under the rear of the car but you can put it anywhere near the tanks really. When you turn the ignition on you should hear the pump prime itself. Where are you based? I can get you a full Group 5 kit but you're looking at £3.5K. Fitting is a big job and you'll need monster rims to fill them. So what are your plans? Are you sticking with single headlights or going for twins? |

Think i'll give the body kit a miss. lol Would be cool but i want to use it as a track car and general thrash around so £3.5k body kits and armco don't go together that well. :-p
Fuel pump currently isn't connect to anything, what ever was making the noise sounded to be comming from behind the dash, pressing the brake pedal changed the noise, i'll have better poke around over the weekend. I'm trying to stay focused on my mini at the moment.
I like the single headlight look, plus the set of twins i have the reflectors have rusted.
