Superchagered XR4X4 are pretty rare, I think there is a company call Rotex who do a supercharger kit for the cologne engine. Is it a 2.8 MFI or 2.9 EFI engine?
If you do swap the e30 for it. Prepare your self for the massive fuel bills!!!!!!! (although the 2.9 is slightly better, than the 2.8)

MWF or some of the other may be able to help, if in doubt you could try sierra gang on forum.fordsierraclub.co.uk/ or the XR ones, although, he could well be a memeber! sounds wild but i'd weigh up why he's upfor it or at least check it out, check its a solid shell and everything is working and running sweetly, and most important that you like it. I guess it will be bigger than an e30 but a charged 4x4 sounds fun...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

BTW when i said bigger, i meant slightly. they don't feel big when used to em specially with decent suspension. just wanted to say that.

......he says its running 260 bhp,, could be really sweet, 260bhp is quite a claim from a blown cologne even if it's a 3.0, I would personally want to see it on a rolling road to conferm that figure. Plus if the car is a 2.8 base the type-9 4wd gearbox will probably not like the torque that comes with 260 bhp (the later 2.9 have the mt75 4wd gearbox which is a lot stronger, as found in 4wd cossies). Still I bet I sounds fantastic on full chat, my old XR4i 2.8 used to sound really throaty when pushed hard, add to that the whine of a superchager

It was Sprintex who did the Cologne kits. They are like hens teeth to get. If he is breaking the car after killing it, get the complete kit off him if he'll sell it. Definately worth getting hold of. The 4be itself is not what is important with his car, just the supercharger kit.

sounds as if it could be a south african 4x4 - as its a three litre
i think i would check for a bent chassis - as all that power has to go somewhere
wonder what supercharger it uses?
any more info on the 2.8 / 2.9 supercharged conversion?

The South African 3.0 cars used the Essex rather than the Cologne motors. 3.0 is acheivable from a 2.8. Bigger than this requires stroking as well though. A 2.9 crank can be used, although the nose needs machining to take the 2.8 timing gear. I'm sure I've got some info somewhere on the Sprintex conversions. I'll have a look tomorrow.
