Hi I am in the process of rebuilding my engine bay and want stuff to look new/clean etc. now some parts I just paint etc but what about parts that would look silly painted?? I'm talking mainly about parts like bonnet relese and stuff. can I take them anywhere to get acid dipped or zinc coated etc?? So they are like new? any advice please.

There should be somewhere you can take 'em to get them anodized. My front headlamp buckets etc have been done by the PO.

I would imagine there will be somewhere local to you that does zinc plating at a reasonable price. A mate of mine has landscaping company and strips all of his mowers down when he gets them and takes stuff by the bucket load to get done. Works out cheaper the more stuff you want doing obviously

cheers just had a phone about and found a place that said they could do it for about £5 - RESULT!! don't want everything doing just to help make it look alot neater! Cheers guys.

When i rebuilt my mini engine i zinc plated loads of stuff. I did every not bolt and washer and some brackets etc, just to stop em rusting. Everything else was painted/chromed.
Its cheap too. Get em bright zinced for a semi shine finish.

Frost sell a DIY kit if you want to have a go yourself frosty the plating manTheres a guide in one of the "enjoy retro cars" mags/book as well if you can read Hiragana and katakana
