Hi,
in this thread I would like to show you my project car.
It all started with this blue 1983 Mk1 Fiesta 1,1 S :
This car should become my first car (well, except from the Ford Taunus I bought when I was 13 years old ) and so it would be used as a daily driver.
Of course it had most of the typical rust spots (including doors, inner wings, rear wheel arches, underbody etc.)
After finishing the welding ( partly did it myself but the important bits were welded by my father known as Oldbus on here) it was time for a paint job which was also done at home in the carport:
In this picture it can be seen in our temporary "spray booth":
When reassembling the car it received a few new parts like brakes, Monroe shock absorbers, lowering springs and a set of rs alloys.
A few weeks after getting it through the German TÜV it was time for a first longer test drive to the Classic Ford Show 2012 together with the Busraser Crew. Even though it was a very hot weekend the Fiesta managed the trip (including several runs on the quarter mile )without any problems.
Here are some Photos from Santa Pod:
YES, I've actually won this quarter mile race against my brother in his Mercedes W123 estate :
As you can see cubic capacity doesn't always help! (3 litre Diesel 88 bhp against 1,1 litre 53 bhp )
But then this happened:
This is what happens if there is a very small bridge and two people who want to be the first one to cross it. You can't believe how incredibly disappointed and angry I was to myself .
So, what to do now? Driving some new boring plastic car? NO!!!
One possibility is to buy another Fiesta and getting it "TÜV - ready" OR going through the whole process of a restoration again.
Though this car will be used as a daily driver I still decided for the second choice. The insurance refunded me half the money of the cars value (according to a report the car was worth 3000 Euro)
So for the new restoration I had 1500 Euro and all the parts that could be taken from the old Fiesta.
Still the aim was clear: This Fiesta has to become even better than the first one!!!
More to follow:
Thanks for looking!
Cheers
Christian
