I've just seen these on Yahoo and they're stunning...but also being an ad we can know the spec of the stretch: These beauties are 10x14 and those are 225/40 Toyos spread across them. These are the same tyres: But this time they are reaching for the edges of an 11J...and they're on the front of this (or at least, they were). Anyone else got any real world stretch specs? ps. No 'I don't think it's safe' type comments please. That's for another thread.

For a bit of sensible stretch (ie. not so much that people would refuse to get in your car!) here's Charlie's 185/45 Nankangs over 7x15 rims: ps. Someone buy his car!: retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?board=FSW&action=display&thread=1172339466More extreme stretchism: As far as I can tell there's a set of 185/50/14 Pirellis, the back two are 8" rims and the front are 7 inchers. Some proper J-style stretchage: 165/70 (yep, 70!) on 7x13s.

Only got narrow rims? You can still stretch! 155/65R15's on a 6" rim. Would have gone smaller aspect but car wasn't lowered and it looked lost. In comparison, in the background is a 195/65R15 on the same size wheel. Smart car tyres are popular for stretching onto fairly common 6x15" rims. They're 145/65R15s and are fairly easy to get hold of.

I have a question:
On my Corsa I've got 145/80 R 13 skinny tyres on skinny steel rims. Could I stick them on some wider rims and get a bit of stretch? Or are they too narrow to be even remotely safe? (I don't subscribe to the stretched=danger theory generally). And if it could be done, how much wider are Astra steelies, say, and would they be suitable?
I had to buy two new tyres for the MOT recently and am loathed to throw them away for wider ones ;D

You won't be getting much stretch with your current tyres on that, it will be more 'square' than 'stretched'. Rather like Pillocks pic I reckon.

Hmm yeah that's not very wide is it ;D I shall have to do some further research...
