Hello group of all knowledge I need to know what sort of weight the dolly can pull. I remeber reading (in my paines manuel conveniently left at my folks) if your towing for a extended time you will need an oil cooler. Also, what caravan types would be the most retro (70s era) roughly 2/3 berth? I shall redeem part of my question with a couple of pics Oh by the way I hate caravans, but in an effort to get my daughter and Mrs more involved in the show scene, I have decided to take one for the team!

Nothing bigger than a small camping trailer in the case of the Dolomite If the rear suspension bushes are not in good condition you'll probably die. The brakes really must be in the best of condition as they can be marginal when stopping the car, let alone with something being towed, the long boot overhang means lots of sideways motion......yaw, yaw CRASH ;D You'd have to be quite careful Uprate the indicator flasher unit to the modern one and add a relay to the brake light circuit to avoid any lighting issues when towing. They will tow pretty well if you're sensible, the car is in good condition and the load is acceptable. Also being an auto it'd probably be worth nailing on a transmission cooler just to help it when crusing or on uphills Got a towbar or three if you need one. Heh.

Tah lewis case closed. have new bushes and suspension for rear. Trailor tent it is then! How much for a towbar mate?

Anyway, a professional what? googled it, and you are right: "European Law now states that all light passenger vehicles registered on or after 1st August 1998 require a type approved towbar tested to EC94/20 and towball with suitable D&S value. This is not retrospective and does not affect any vehicle registered before this date. Other vehicles not subject to type approval are ~ commercial vehicles, car derived vans and motor caravans." i hang my head in shame - frequently ;D
