For sale, 1998 BMW 528 Automatic.
Reason for sale: I Was given it when family friends moved back to America, they bought it as a stop gap car and had it a year, I got given it, put it in for the MOT and it failed, I don't have the time/space to fix it and get it mot'd (Simple fix, see below.)
162k - FULL Service history (Rather large folder full), including crazy amounts spent in the last few years (Pictures below) That mileage on an engine like this is nothing with the money thats been thrown at it over the years.
Full leather interior, Cruise control, air con, TC, 6 CD Changer, Smooth auto box, really is a pimp cruiser, and the trip was showing 36MPG When I went to pick it up. I drove it back 27 Miles and everything works, All electrics, gearbox is quiet and smooth engine pulls well.
No Tax
No MOT - Failed for the following reasons:
So it failed on both drop links, Handbrake efficiency and a warning light.
I have fitted the offside drop link, I have the other one ready to go on just havent had time, I will put it on before sale if I find time, its a 30 minute job at most.
I also had a mate pop round and put the airbag light off, its stayed off, I don't know why it was on, there was no fault codes logged but its staying off now its reset.
So all it needs doing to get it MOT'd is fitting the other drop link if I don't find time to do it before its gone and getting the handbrake to work.
I don't know why the handbrake % is so low (apparently a common 5 series/90's BMW problem), I havent even looked, it could just need adjust it could need cleaning up/free'ing up. I don't think they used it tbh as its an Auto they just chucked it in park, or at least the handbrake wasnt on when I collected it. Either way it wont be difficult to sort just maybe time consuming working out what needs doing
Full service history from new up to 160K. Including two bills of over £1500 in the past two years, one done last year when the headgasket went (a common 528 Problem) the people who had it spent £1900 on a new cylinder head being fitted.
And a year or two before that theres a bill of £1500 of multiple things, huge service and a few fixes.
It's been really well looked after and drives well, if I could justify having a big engine'd car id find time to MOT it and waft around in it for a year but I already have enough cars and not enough time
Has some fancy ass M Sport or whatever wheels on it, I don't like them personally but I imagine they're worth something. All tyres are fine.
Anyhow, Pictures:
Pretty sure that's everything
I have the full V5C And although its not in my name its signed by the people that owned it and moved away and I will give a full receipt of course stating I am selling it on behalf of them.
£450.
Overall it's a hell of a lot of car for the money. id ask more but I realise a car without an MOT isnt worth much. With a fresh MOT id ask a lot more, if it doesnt sell as is eventually ill find time to take a look at handbrake and fit the other drop link and MOT it and put it up for over double what I'm asking.
