As per thread title I would like to know a bit more about these cars, engine options, price etc. I probably cant afford one but it costs nothing to ask about them The pics below are why I want one, if you aint yet seen Talladega Nights: The Balllad of Ricky Bobby then buy or rent it now, ace film very funny ;D Shake and bake Ps How hard would it be, or cost, to do the same paint job on a similar two door coupe kind of car? It's a homage to Smokey Yunick's 13 paint job also seen on Chevelles and looks awesome

I loved the film for the cars, but apart from that it was fairly pants. Loving the chevelle he drove, though. Awesome!

There are four different types 64-65, 66-67, 68-69 and 70-72. All are based on coil sprung seperate chassis, which was also used by Buick, pontiac and oldsmobile to build sister cars. available as 2 and 4 door saloon and estates, 2 door hardtops (4 door hardtops were available from 66 onwards), convertibles and Pick ups (El caminos). There were 3 models the 300 is the base, The Malibu was the top spec. The Supersport was originally an option package but became a proper model between 65-70. Engines started with a basic straight 6 going up to the 454 V8. options wise you could get pretty much anything. 64 65 wagon 66 67 68 69 70 71 My 72. There are no real problem area's, just the usual that you would expect with a car of that age. On the plus side absolutley everything(ish) is easily available to buy new. Prices range from about £3-400 for 4 door 71-72 sedan up to $1.2 million for Old drag racers. Realisticly Budget for between £6-10k and you should be able to find a fairly tidy 2 door smallblock V8. The one in the film is a '69 and probably one of the most desirable years. Edit: Pic hosting issues.

Jack, how could you miss out the '73 - '77 models? These are bargain priced compared to the earlier cars and have a unique style to themselves. Popular Hot Rodding loves them and even has a '73 '74 Chevelle of the month been going on for a few months... They are basically the same car under te top sheet metal as the '70-'72 model and many parts underneath interchange. They don;t carry the "muscle car tax" so can be bagged cheaply. They are all powered by aneamic emission junk engines but will take a small or big block no problem and you can junk all the emissions rubbish and tun e them up as nice as a '70 - '72 can be. I've seen some nice pro touring style ones done.
last one I saw was a '75 which was bit ropey but was only £300.
