My new hack, absolutely love it! Just driving it at the mo, but on the list of things to do are: New shocks and springs, loved its stance but driving it daily gets abit tedious! New sticker ( Proper Escort 1.3 popular one) Homemade rubber mudflaps (if I can do them well). Heres some pics, first ones taken by me, the rest are by Rodney And the sticker, Updates as work is done. Cheers, Andy.

Cheers, in fairness it is what it is thanks to Rodney, I bought it as is. I get what you mean about modern tut though, talk about taking the fun out of driving! Something like this gives you so much feedback, big smile on my face when I'm out in it. Turns so many heads, and you can lipread them saying 'That's clean.' Makes it all worth while.

That's the first thing my old man said when I took it to show him the first time! And you got to give it a good slam to shut it too!

I'm in the midst of sorting out a near-identical one except it's red and a Popular "Plus". Yours has a sunroof though. Great colour too, Maritime Blue.

had an E reg just like that as a company car back in 1992 (yes they were cheap...) apart from the noisy engine It was OK I suppose. Then they 'splashed out' on an xr2 for me....that was fun!

Looks lovelly. I think this shape will start going up in price like the Mk1 / 2's. They really are a nice looking car.

Looks lovelly. I think this shape will start going up in price like the Mk1 / 2's. They really are a nice looking car. As I see it people who had mk1 and 2 escorts back in the day are now in there 50s and 60s who are the people who have paid there morgages off and have large amounts of disposable income and inheritance moneys etc hence they are willing to spend to re-live there youth. So mk3 and 4 escorts will be expensive as the people who used to own them become more affluent. I just wish I had a barn to put a load of them in for 10 years time. Nice looking escort I have followed a few of mrrodneys projects on xr2.com in the past and am impressed, helpful bloke to. My mk4 may still be a non runner without his tips.

Philsford- read through your Escort thread. It's stunning- I love the two up two downs, they're the nuts mate, and a zetec as well. Spot on! I've got a 1600cvh to rebuild, but I'm thinking of a 2.1na zvh instead, I've heard that zvh's are more torquey that straight zetecs, but also that they're gash unless turbo'd. Just gonna go with the flow and drive it as is for the time being.
Rodney is a top bloke, honest and genuine.
